What a busy yet very fun week we have had! We are taking full advantage of the 30*+ avg weather we have been receiving and there are days where finding the balance between outside play and lessons inside difficult.
One day we played hookie... the result a trek to the Ney Nature Center.
The cool thing about this trek... we were following an animal path down to the pond and we came across a geocache. The idea behind this geocache is once you find it, you are to write your name and date, take a goodie from the box and leave something in return. So Hannah signed her name, took a purple bow pin... and left a bobby pin. I realized we will have to keep a few odds and ends in the bag for now on. Pretty lame, leaving a bobby pin! Also made me thinking that this is going to be a great geography lesson later this summer and that this will have to become a regular outing for us!

And for Science. We are still learning about the human body. Below is the model of a spine. Really hit home how flexible it is and the simple parts of it with the disks and vertebrae.
And the importance of the skull. Egg shell acts as a skull and the yolk, your brain. After a look of shock when I told Hannah to throw the egg on the ground, she was more than willing to make a mess... Then we wrapped one up in Toilet Paper and a large Easter Egg. Acting as a helmet, she understood the importance of one :) Some cracks but not nearly the fate of the non-protected one!!!

And we added the brain but didn't go into too much detail. That can wait till next week.
And for History, we spent the week learning about early Indians, before Christopher Columbus times. We decided that it would be a fun project to build a wigwam. Our attempt, pretty sad but fun! Oh, and Twilight Sparkles, the purple pony. She has worked for 3 months earning enough money to buy that pony. She is a very proud owner of that horse!
